Why You Should be Excited to Live and Vote in HD89

Virginia’s 89th House of Delegates district is one of the largest in Hampton Roads by land area, covering parts of Suffolk (Holy Neck, Whaleyville, Cypress) and Chesapeake (Western Branch, Deep Creek, Grassfield). The district blends rural forests, farmland, and suburban neighborhoods, anchored by the Great Dismal Swamp and Chesapeake Square Mall. From historic charm in Suffolk to vibrant communities in Chesapeake, the 89th district is a place where tradition meets progress.

This unique blend of communities makes the 89th district a microcosm of Virginia itself—a place where every vote matters, especially in this year’s most competitive delegates race in Hampton Roads. The stakes couldn’t be higher. With a slight Republican lean, past elections have been incredibly close. In 2023, the winner was decided by just 500 votes. In the 2024 presidential election, Vice-President Kamala Harris won this district by over 1,400 votes, showing its potential to swing either way. In fact, our region has seen races so close that the winner was decided by pulling a name out of a fishbowl—determining control of the state house.

Your vote in this election could decide who represents our district and who controls the state house. As someone who grew up in the 89th district, I know firsthand the challenges and opportunities we face. That’s why I’m committed to fighting for a future where every family can thrive. We have a choice: elect a delegate who will stand up for working families, protect small businesses, and fight for better wages and fair working conditions—or one who will prioritize powerful corporations over our community’s needs. This election is about creating good-paying jobs, lowering costs for families, and ensuring every child has access to a world-class education.

The choice is ours. Make your voice heard—vote on June 17, 2025. Together, we can build a future that works for all of us, right here in the 89th district. Let’s make history—because every vote counts! And, honestly, because you live in HD89, your vote counts a little extra.
